The Plan

The current plan for the engine is to provide a sandbox which allows me to demonstrate a number of rendering and graphics techniques, while making something that looks great.

At the moment, I've settled on creating a darkened forest environment (some concept pictures shown below) that the 'player' can walk around and through. Features such as campsites, lamps, natural geological formations will be used to play with different rendering effects.

In order to add some interactivity to the world, I am considering adding some lua bindings to the engine when it develops a little further to allow me to add some animals and objects whose behaviour can be viewed and edited at runtime.

In the end, I expect the player to feel a character from Little Red Riding Hood, following a path through a dark forest and never quite feeling comfortable with their surroundings.

Here are a few examples of the final look and feel I'm hoping to go for with this project.
